Abstract

Title:Technology setup for simultaneous machining of a large number of small holes
Abstract:
To create multiple holes at once, two technological processes were tested for creating an electrode for electro-discharge machining (EDM). We wanted to determine whether it is possible to ensure the necessary precision and functionality of the electrode, which would be used to process untreated material. Using the method of electro-erosion treatment, the electrode for the first technology was produced from the untreated copper bar, which would then be used for further processing. Using the second method of creating the electrode, we attempted to assemble the electrode using a big number of piercing electrodes, which would allow us to wash away the removed material. Results showed that the first method is very time consuming, expensive and difficult to repeat and that the second method cannot guarantee the required precision of the electrode due to the deformation of the piercing electrodes during the process of assembly.
