Abstract

Title:Integrated teaching of Geography and English: the case of Australia and Oceania
Abstract:
Nowadays, the purpose of primary and secondary education is no longer only to acquire knowledge, but also to develop a variety of skills and competences as well as creative thinking. Since traditional teaching approaches do not meet these demands, other, innovative teaching methods and approaches need to be implemented in the education process. This is why the curriculum reform of education and schooling in Slovenia was carried out and with it interdisciplinary teaching was introduced in the national syllabuses for all subjects. The purpose of the master’s thesis was to carry out a comprehensive analysis of the possibilities for integrating geography and English in primary and grammar schools, and to provide ideas for their integration by using the CLIL approach. Based on the analysis of the syllabuses for geography and English for primary and grammar school, and various other sources, we have established that geography and English offer a variety of possibilities for their integration both on content and language level.
