Abstract

Title:Wool as a material for experiential learning in kindergarten
Abstract:
Because in today's times we are increasingly trying to live healthy and in touch with nature, the »almost forgotten materials, which have played an important role in people's lives in the past, are in the forefront. One of these materials is sheep wool, which we will talk about through the degree. Sheep breeding is more frequent, more and more valued and used handmade sheep wool products (knitted, felted), woolen rugs and carpets, sheepskin, lamb meat, sheep cheese. Due to a different way of life and constant rush, today's children are deprived of first-class contact with natural materials - sheep wool, and experiential learning resulting from direct handling of materials and plays an important role in all areas of development. The pre-school period is the most appropriate time to acquire a wide range of experiences, get to know materials and build a positive attitude towards living and non-living nature. Kindergarten teachers can give them the opportunity of these first-class experiences, which they might never have received. Sheep and wool are not easily accessible for getting to know, because we have sheep almost all the opportunity to get to know the nearby farm. And the very sensory experiences that children acquire through direct knowledge of sheep wool are an incentive for further learning and learning - experiential learning. And before wool processing operations are lost, such as spinning, twisting, weaving, knitting, crocheting, wet and dry stuffing, sewing; and who probably knows some old parents of the child in the kindergarten department, we take this opportunity and inform the children directly to them. Nowadays, local craft centers are re-creating, which are trying to preserve handicraft, domestic arts crafts, and, as educators, the children can be enthusiastic about this and give them a positive attitude and respect for nature, animals and products from natural materials.
