Abstract
Skrb za okolje v današnjem času, s trenutnim tempom razvoja in z vedno večjimi potrebami po prostoru za pridelovanje hrane, kliče po tehtnem razmisleku o iskanju najprimernejših rešitev pri nadaljnjem razvoju sistemov kmetovanja. Človek s svojim delovanjem v kmetijstvu vse preveč posega v naravni ekosistem in ga moti. V nalogi sem se osredotočila na okoljske razlike, ki jih prinašata ekološko kmetijstvo (EK) in konvencionalno kmetijstvo (KK) ter njune dobre in slabe značilnosti. Zanimalo me je, ali je EK, kot alternativna oblika kmetovanja, res bolj prijazna okolju in ima posledično tudi manjši vpliv na živo naravo. Kolobarjenje, gnojenje, varstvo pred škodljivci in boleznimi, obdelava tal, biodiverziteta so ključni elementi določanja uspešnosti kmetovanja, na podlagi katerih so v različnih raziskavah ugotovili, da se vsi rezultati poskusov bolj nagibajo v prid EK. Prav tako pa noben ekstrem ne vodi v izboljšanje, ampak je potrebna kombinacija praks, ki se jih izvaja v obeh sistemih.

Title:Environmental effects of ecological agriculture in comparison to conventional agriculture
Abstract:
The concern for the environment with our current pace of development and needs of larger food production areas requires rational consideration about the most appopriate solutions for further developing of our farming system. Based on our current agricultural practices and techniques, humankind is over interfering with our natural ecosystem. In my assignment, I focused on environmental differences between organic agriculture (OA) and conventional agriculture (CA) while also exploring their advantages and disadvantages. The main question is focusing around OA being friendlier to the environment as alternarnative farming system as opposed to the usage of CA. Crop rotation, fertilizing, pest management, tillage as well as biodiversity are essential elements in determinating the success of farming. I found out that all the results of the experiments are more inclined towards usage of OA. However, no extremes lead to improvements, meaning that for further growth a healthy combination of both practices is required.
