Model podatkovnega prometa v mobilnem omrežju na fizično omejenem področju

Abstract
Zaradi strmega naraščanja količine prometa v mobilnih omrežjih si ponudniki telekomunikacijskih storitev želijo svoja že obstoječa mobilna omrežja nadgraditi tako, da bodo kos novo nastajajočim zahtevam uporabnikov. Pred fizičnim posegom v omrežje želijo ugotoviti kako se bo nadgrajeno omrežje obnašalo. Pri tem nam pomagajo modeli omrežij in simulacije. Primer postavitve modela in izvedbe simulacije mobilnega podatkovnega omrežja predstavimo v pričujočem delu. Najprej v simulacijskem ogrodju OMNeT++ postavimo model, pri čemer ga poenostavimo tako, da se osredotočimo izključno na podatkovni promet. Model podatkovnega omrežja temelji na postavitvi baznih postaj v dolini Bohinjskega jezera in na smučišču Vogel. Vrednosti vhodnih spremenljivk modela temeljijo na populaciji ljudi, ki živi v dolini in številu obiskovalcev smučišča. Izvedemo štiri simulacije, pri čemer prepustnosti aktivnih naprav pred izvedbo najprej izračunamo. Prepustnosti aktivnih naprav tekom simulacij spreminjamo glede na zaznana ozka grla in na koncu pridemo do zaključka kakšne morajo biti pasovne širine prenosnih medijev in prepustnosti baznih postaj ter aktivnih naprav jedra omrežja, da bo uporabnikom zagotovljena dovolj dobra uporabniška izkušnja.

Title:Modelling data transfer in mobile networks limited to physical regions
Abstract:
Mobile data traffic usage is on the rise and mobile network carriers wish to upgrade their networks in such a way that they will be able to keep up with rising demand. Before they do any real work on their mobile network they wish to check how any upgrades to the network would behave. This is where network models and simulations come into play. In the thesis before you we show an example of building such a model. While doing so, we focus exclusively on data traffic. The model is based on a real life example of mobile cell located in the valley of Bohinjsko jezero and ski resort Vogel. Model input values are based on valley population and ski resort visit rates. We run four simulations. Throughput on network devices and medium broadband is roughly calculated from previously mentioned input values before running the first simulation. Through the course of running all of the further simulations, we adjust appropriate model values so that we do away with found choke-points. In the end, we find out what throughputs on network devices and what medium broadband is needed so that the user experience is adequate.
