This paper entitled Differences between the Child's Storytelling Near the Book before Reading and Reading the Content presents speech development in children and some key factors that also play a part in the development in the theoretical part. It also discusses the child’s narration process, which is the basis of the research in the empirical part. The purpose of the empirical part is to determine if, given defined criteria, there are any differences in a child’s narration of a picture book before and after reading the content. The paper also analyses if there are any gender related differences. The results show that differences in a child’s narration of a picture book before and after reading the content exist and that there are also differences between genders.
