Abstract

Title:Russian possessive adjectives ending in –in In the examples of мамин, дядин, Наташин
Abstract:
The master's thesis focuses on the characteristics of Russian possessive adjectives and examines their use on the basis of theoretical knowledge. Possessive adjectives have long been regarded as the basic means of expressing property, however in modern Russian language their leading role has been taken over by the genitive case. Based on the research of Russian linguists the way of expressing property in Russian from the 11th century to the present is presented. The main part of the master's thesis is the corpus research. The purpose of the research is to determine the general use of the possessive adjectives ending in -in (by the example of мамин, дядин, Наташин) of the modern Russian language and to check the declension in the genitive and the dative case of the singular male and neuter gender. The results indicate that the use of Russian possessive adjectives is more frequent in literary texts, especially novels, tales and (short) stories.
