Abstract

Title:A comparative analysis the quality of life in Slovenia and other comparable countries
Abstract:
In recent decades, the quality of life has become in important topic and one of the key tasks and priorities in the national as well as the international environment. Since the quality of life is connected with norms and values of individual societies, it can differ between individual countries. Following the media, we get a feeling that everything is going wrong and that we are living in times of a crisis with no end in sight. There are millions of people in the world not knowing what they will be eating tomorrow; and thousands of people, who are currently in war. When we look at it from the other side and look around us, we can see places with numerous new buildings, coffee shops and shopping centres are full, the roads are covered with good cars, there are no parking spaces etc. However, precisely this negativity makes it impossible for us to enjoy what we have; therefore, I wanted to analyse the quality of life in Slovenia. This master’s thesis presents a comprehensive analysis and findings about the quality of life in Slovenia and other comparable countries. For the comparison, I chose: Italy, Croatia and Austria. To ensure an objective analysis, I have used the indicator: material conditions of the population, accessibility of services and goods and have determined level of poverty in individual countries. Because subjective observations of people are very important, I have used a survey questionnaire to carry out a research in Slovenia. This way I determined the satisfaction of people with their lives and considered the subjective assessment, which along with objective indicators will provide a complete picture about the quality of life in Slovenia. After obtaining the data and considering different indicator, I found that the quality of life in Slovenia is better than in many other countries with a higher life standard.
