This thesis aims to present three so far unpublished works of Joža Lovrenčič from the period after his arrest in 1945 until his death in 1952. Highlighting the events that affected the author’s disposition in the time of their origin, it examines his original works, the collection of poems Nič Niče [“Nothing Nobody”] and the epic poem Brat Honorat [“Brother Honoratus”]. Helped by the author’s biography, it also deals with some of his earlier works, pointing out the autobiographical elements and the author’s affinity for the classical antiquity. In the second part, it discusses Lovrenčič’s translation of Ovid’s Metamorphoses analysing his hexameter verse within the traditional conventions of its structure in Slovene. The analysis of selected sources and the comparison with his hexameters appearing in other texts present the argument for translation’s formal incompleteness.
