Abstract
Računalniška grafika kot tudi natančnejše tridimenzionalno (krajše 3D; angl. three-dimensional) oblikovanje, sta se začela razvijati v šestdesetih letih prejšnjega stoletja in sta danes že tako razvita, da je vse težje ločiti realnost od računalniško generirane slike ali videa. Z izboljšavo in razvojem tehnologije se je povečala tudi uporaba računalniške grafike, ki se je danes razširila na različna področja. Uporablja se kot vizualizacijsko orodje v medicini, znanosti na splošno, umetnosti, filmu, reklamah, arhitekturi, oblikovanju in še na mnogih drugih področjih. Upodabljanje narave je še vedno dokaj kompleksen postopek, predvsem zaradi njene raznolikosti in organskih oblik, ki jih je težko ponarediti. S pomočjo uporabe algoritmov in že prej izdelanih modelov, ki jih je mogoče prilagajati določenim potrebam projekta, se celoten postopek poenostavi. Namen diplomskega dela je bil modeliranje in vizualizacija drevesa. Diplomsko delo je razdeljeno na teoretični in eksperimentalni del. V teoretičnem delu je bila raziskana zgodovina in uporaba računalniške grafike danes. Predstavljen je bil tudi potek izdelave drevesa v tridimenzionalnem računalniškem programu. V eksperimentalnem delu je bil opisan in prikazan celoten potek izdelave izdelka. Predstavljeni so računalniški programi, ki so bili uporabljeni pri izdelavi. Celoten postopek izdelave izdelka je vključeval modeliranje in digitalno kiparjenje drevesa, dodajanje tekstur in na koncu še osvetljevanje in končno upodobitev modela. Vizualizacija izdelka je končni izdelek diplomskega dela, ki je v razpravi in zaključkih analiziran in ocenjen iz vidika uspešnosti dela ter realističnosti modeliranja in končne upodobitve. Cilj diplomskega dela je bil izdelati realistično drevo po izbranem referenčnem modelu in se s tem natančno posvetiti izdelavi izdelka in opisati posamezne korake, ki so bili potrebni, da smo prišli do našega končnega izdelka in ovire, do katerih smo prišli in kako smo jih rešili.

Title:3D modelling and tree visualisation
Abstract:
The rapid development of computer graphics and three-dimensional (shorter 3D) modelling started in the 1960s. Today, the advancement of technology and, with it, graphics makes it harder and harder to distinguish between reality and computer generated imagery. Through this improvement, the use of CGI and 3D modelling has skyrocketed and is now used in a variety of different industries, such as medicine and science in general, art, film, advertisement, architecture, design and other areas. One of the more complex parts of computer-generated imagery is still nature and the natural world. As it is much harder to mimic and create virtual organic shapes that resemble what we see when we look outside. Research and implementation of algorithms creating fractals and programs with already made models, which can be adjust based on preferences, greatly improving and speeding up the creation and rendering of nature. The goal of this thesis, 3D modelling and tree visualisation, has been into two parts, theoretical and experimental. The theoretical part presents the history of computer graphics, its use today and the pipeline used in 3D creation. The experimental part describes the process, modelling, sculpting, texturing, lighting and lastly, the rendering of the final images. Visualisation of the model is also the main objective of the thesis and the finished product. The main goal of the thesis was the creation of a realistic model of a tree based on an actual tree, which was used as a reference. Through creating the 3D model, we described the steps that needed to be taken to get to the final product and the obstacles we came across and how we managed to overcome them and find solutions to our problems.
