In Master Thesis we examined the work with wood in three centers for people with disabilities, that perform the tasks of guidance, guardianship and arranging sheltered employment for the disabled and in three working centers in Slovenia, where there is designated employment for the disabled available. We carried out a research about use of wood in these centers and found out that in workshops wood is used by 78 % of all the centers for people with disabilities and 14 % of working centers. The research showed even the possible further growth of these kind of centers, where they have the desire to manufacture wood. The majority of wood products are souvenirs, toys and wooden packaging, but they also manufacture other products. The manufacture of wooden furniture is rare, because the technology of processing for the people with disabilites is in many cases too demanding. In some centers for people with disabilities and working centers they manufacture for the consignees wooden semi – finished products or finished products; this cooperation should be increased. We suggest the linkage in offering the products on the market when selling own products. Some wood workshops are fitted with advanced machines for laser treatment of wood. As the collected data show the CNC machines are not used yet. A big potencial is a reuse of worn-out wood.
