In the theoretical part of my master’s thesis, I focused my research on the search for the dividing and connecting lines between pornography and art, which were drawn by various philosophers, art historians, artists, lawmakers and judges. When analysing their arguments, I was mostly interested in the question whether the predominant idea about the strict division between pornography and art is sufficiently justified, or if some kind of a hybrid between the two irreconcilable concepts could exist in the form of the so-called pornographic art. I tried to verify the thesis on the existence of pornographic art by analysing selected works of art from different time periods and by presenting my own art project entitled Rule 34.
