Master paper is dealing with the topic of precarious work, which is growing problem in Slovenia and elsewhere, especially in the post-industrial societies. Atipycal employment relationships are especially frequent in the career path of young people, who are just entering the labour market. The increasing prevalance of precarious work is the outcome of the structural changes and inadequate market circumstances, which reflect on economic and social uncertainty of young precarious workers. Empirical data proves some statistically significant difference in self-esteem between precarious and non-precarious young workers. Precarious workers are less confident in the field of competences and achievements, but more active and optimistic in terms of exploring their employment options and developing themselves as a professionals.
Precarious young people have difficulties in following the life cycle, which direct them towards complete independence and entrance in the world of adults.
