Abstract
Rečemo lahko, da embalaža postaja vse pomembnejši del našega življenja in ima v današnjem času vse večji pomen. Posebej je še pomembna embalaža za pakiranje živil, pri kateri je velik poudarek na izboru embalažnih materialov, primernih za stik z živili, kar je bila tudi tema diplomskega dela. Diplomsko delo se osredotoča na embalažo, ki se uporablja v slaščičarstvu za pakiranje slaščic, in sicer na karton in polimerno embalažo. Diplomsko delo v teoretičnem delu vsebuje predstavitev embalaže, vrste in funkcije embalaže, kateri so trenutni trendi embalaže in kateri so kriteriji oz. standardi, ki jih mora izpolnjevati embalaža, da je primerna kot živilska embalaža. Izpostavljene so tudi prednosti in slabosti oz. pomanjkljivosti kartonske in polimerne embalaže. Eksperimentalni del se osredotoča na določitev nekaterih osnovnih in fizikalnih lastnosti dveh izbranih materialov – kartona in dvoosno orientiranega polistirena (BOPS). Določene so bile trdnost materiala pri preboju s kroglico, natezne lastnosti, temperaturna obstojnost in omočljivost z vodo. V poglavju rezultati in razprava so prikazani rezultati meritev, v nadaljevanju pa je bil v programu Adobe Illustrator načrtovan tudi predlog nove embalaže iz kartona, s katero bi lahko v slaščičarni Košak nadomestili obstoječo polimerno embalažo iz polistirena (BOPS).

Title:Suitability of packaging materials for desserts
Abstract:
It is safe to say that packaging is becoming more and more important part of our lives. It increasingly gains importance nowadays. Food packaging is particularly important and the emphasis is placed on the selection of packaging materials that are suitable for contact with foodstuffs, which was also the topic of the bachelor’s thesis. In the bachelor’s thesis, the focus was on cardboard and polymeric packaging of sweets in confectionery. The theoretical part of the bachelor’s thesis starts with a general presentation of packaging. It continues with the presentations of different types, functions, and new trends in packaging with a more detailed presentation of the advantages and disadvantages of cardboard and polymer packaging. The theoretical part ends with the presentations of the criteria and standards which the packaging must meet to be suitable for food packaging. The experimental part of the bachelor’s thesis is focused on the testing of some basic and physical characteristics of the selected packaging materials, cardboard, and biaxially oriented polystyrene sheet (BOPS). The impact strength with the ball burst method, tensile properties, temperature stability, and wettability with water were determined. In the chapter results and discussion, the results of the testing are presented. With the use of the Adobe Illustrator, a new cardboard packaging was designed which could replace the existing BOPS polymeric packaging in the Košak confectionery.
