Primerjava med novelo Cirila Kosmača Balada o trobenti in oblaku in istoimensko ekranizacijo Franceta Štiglica : diplomsko delo

V diplomskem delu obravnavam razmerje med Kosmačevo novelo Balada o trobenti in oblaku in istoimensko ekranizacijo Franceta Štiglica. V prvem delu bom opredelil in vsebinsko analiziral Kosmačevo literarno delo in izpostavil motive ter ponavljajoče se vzorce. Pred samo primerjavo novele in filma bom predstavil nekatere metodološke podlage za analizo filmskih adaptacij, ki bodo pozneje uporabljene na primeru Štigličeve ekranizacije Kosmačevega dela. Pri primerjavi bom izhajal iz zavedanja, da sta tako film kot literatura dve popolnoma samostojni umetnosti ter da filmska adaptacija nikakor ne sme biti ocenjevana po merilu kvantitativnega prenosa elementov iz literarne v filmsko umetnost. Cilj naloge tako ni predstaviti razlike oziroma odstopanja med novelo in filmom v smislu podajanja ocene, temveč v razumevanju specifičnega jezika in strukture literature in filma, ki izhaja iz določene literarne predloge. Eno od podvprašanj, ki se postavlja je, v kolikšni meri je Štiglic v filmu Balada o trobenti in oblaku uspel vzpostavil lastno filmsko estetiko oziroma v kolikšni meri je zgolj poskušal najti ustrezen filmski prevod Kosmačeve novele.

Abstract

My dissertation addresses the relationship between the novella and its film adaptation by France Štiglic. In the first part I will define and analyze the novella by Kosmač and present narrative motifs and repetitive patterns in his writing. Before the comparison between novella and film I will present methodological basis for analysis of film adaptations which will be later used for the analysis of film adaptation by Štiglic. My research perspective is based on the foundation that both literature and film must be represented as two individual works of art and that they should not be judged by the criteria of quantitative transfer of literature elements into the film form. The object of this dissertation is not to present differences between novella and film for the purpose of quality evaluation of film adaptation. Its object is in understanding the specifics of the language and form in literature and in film that has its basis in literature. One of the sub-questions will be how has Štiglic adapted the novella The Ballad of the Trumpet and the Cloud and if we can talk about directors own aesthetic approach toward the novella or has he tried to find adequate film translation.
