This thesis will focus on Italian writer Gabriele d'Annunzio. It contains an overview of his life, his literary work and his part in politics. A part of my thesis will also focus on the reception of d'Annunzio. I focused on his work's reception of Slovenian authors: Ivan Cankar, Stritar, Župančič, Kette, Murn, Izidor Cankar in Gradnik. Gabriele d'Annunzio's literary work is diverse and is marked by the appearance of individual literary genres. His work was described as trivial and kitschy on multiple occasions. We can see the influence of theatre actress Eleonora Duse in d'Annunzio's work. He has written a couple of theatre texts for her. The reception of d'Annunzio in Slovenia is very stereotypical, because they mostly focused on his private life and his time in politics, rather than reviewing his work. Out of the Slovenian authors I've chosen, the one spending most of his time on d'Annunzio's work was the representative of Slovenian modernist movement Ivan Cankar. Župančič and Stritar wrote a song, Gradnik was mostly translating d'Annunzio's poetry, while we can find mention of d'Annuzio's drama in Izidor Cankar's work. Kette and Murn do not mention the Italian decadent.
