Abstract

Title:Analysis of FDV graduates’ employment: trends of unemployment between 2005 and 2015
Abstract:
With the economy crisis in 2008, unemployment began to rise in the world, as well as in Slovenia. Unemployment among young people has been two to three times higher than general unemployment for decades, and the economy crisis has contributed to the trend of fixed-term employment, which is the most common among all flexible types of employment in Slovenia. In our thesis the problem was analysed within the framework of Faculty of social sciences (FDV) undergraduates. Kramberger (2004) reported on the unemployment among the old study programs of the FDV in a comprehensive study. He noted that between 1991–2003 unemployment in most of the old FDV study programs was increasing, but the waiting period for employment in most programs was not increasing. In the empirical section, we analysed the data from the Employment Service of the Republic of Slovenia and FDV for the period 2005–2015. We found that – compared to 1991–2003 there were no major differences between the registered unemployment between the old and the Bologna programs. Therefore the unemployment remains relatively high. The new Bologna program of Social informatics (professional higher education) programme demonstrated the smallest unemployment rate.
