Cyber Art, Carnal Art and Obsolete Body are concepts that depict contemporary art practices of body alterations. Artists who work with the aforementioned concepts are interested mainly in the obsoleteness of the physical body in comparison to societal psychological progress. Each artist dealing with these concepts is exploring the application of modern technology advancements to human body, with the purpose of improving physical, cognitive and/or sensory capabilities of the human body.
Artistic interventions in the physical body have an impact on the appearance of the human body as well, which is a compelling aspect to consider, especially in terms of the society's reaction to visible body modifications causing a dissimilarity between the modified human body and the culturally determined physical appearance.
In my thesis I look for connections between the three concepts mentioned above. I research public responses to the exposed artworks. In art research part I mainly focus on viewers response to intentional and unintentional body alterations.
