Abstract

Title:Coach as an educator in mini-volleyball
Abstract:
The roles of a youth coach are very diverse. He has to constantly seek out the balance between the purpose of training, which is to teach children new techniques and to adapt the proces of teaching to the childrens needs who are constantly exposed to changes in their body and to psycho-social changes. The main goal of the diploma work was to showcase the importance of the educational side of coaching in mini-volleyball. Existing literature on youth coaching as well as the role of family members and other social factors that affect childrens participation in youth sport were thoroughly examined and presented. Factors such as biological growth and development as well as psycho-social development were also included in the research because of their impact on how the children see the world and interact with it. Additional information was acquired by interviewing coaches and by surveying children that trained mini-volleyball in OK Triglav Kranj in the season of 2017/2018. Coaches spoke of the roles of a youth coach and the importance of teaching children the appropriate values. Children on the other hand gave out information conserning the importance of the coaches personal quialities, the roles of a coach and the relationships that were formed between the coach and the children. All information, acquired in the survey was statictically processed and for better understanding graphicly displayed. The purpose was also to find the connections between existing literature and research and the data gathered from the practical world of coaching. As well as giving an insight on the theme from the childrens perspective.
