Abstract
Aluminij je ena najbolj uporabnih kovin, ki se pridobiva z elektrolizo glinice v elektrolizni celici. Največji strošek pridobivanja predstavlja električna energija. Zaradi potreb električnega omrežja prihaja pri proizvodnji aluminija do nihanja električnega toka, kar pa vpliva na delovanje elektrolizne celice. Namen diplomskega dela je bil analizirati vpliv modulacije električnega toka na spremembe delovanja elektrolizne celice. Eksperimentalno delo smo izvajali v elektrolizni dvorani podjetja Talum, d. d. Vpliv tokovnih sprememb smo spremljali na povprečju vseh elektroliznih celic, pri čemer smo se osredotočili na spremembe temperature in kemijske sestave elektrolita. Na izbrani elektrolizni celici smo spremljali temperaturo korita s posebno termo kamero. Ker je s spremembo toplotnega stanja elektrolizne celice povezana tudi proizvodnja aluminija, smo z metodo dodajanja bakra določili količino aluminija v treh elektroliznih celicah. V času omejevanja moči so bile spremembe temperature, kemijske sestave ter količine kovine v elektroliznih celicah majhne. Za natančnejšo določitev sprememb bi modulacijo moči morali spremljati daljše časovno obdobje.

Title:Analysis of the influence of electric current modulation on the operation of the electrolytic cell
Abstract:
Aluminium is one of the most used metals. It is produced by reduction of alumina in a electrolysis cell using electric current. Electricity alone represents the biggest cost of the aluminium production process. During aluminium production changes to electric current occur due to the needs within surrounding electric network and this has an impact on a electrolysis cell. Aim of this thesis was to analyse an impact of modulation of electric current to the output of an electrolysis cell. Experiments were carried out in the aluminium refinery Talum, d. d. Impact of electric current modulation was observed on the average of all reduction cells with a focus on temperature and chemical changes of an electrolyte. Temperature of the base of the specific electrolysis cell was measured using a thermal camera. Temperature changes of an electrolysis cell correlates with the aluminium production. Therefore a method of adding copper was used to determine an amount of aluminium in three electrolysis cells. Only small temperature and chemical changes as well as only small changes in amount of metal were observed in an electrolysis cell during reduced electric power. Longer periods of electric power modulation should be observed to determine more detailed changes.
