Trbovlje is a coal and industrial town in Zasavje region, where agriculture has a specific role and position. Farms were mainly inhabited on higher landscapes. Farmers face difficult processing conditions, lack of space and an obsolete infrastructure. Most of them are still engaged with traditional farming. We examined the state and agricultural perspectives in the municipality through a survey. The farmers mentioned organic farming as an advantage, which means they are aware of the importance of caring for the environmentand and also the welfare of animals. They also look for additional economic opportunities for such farming. With the help of national support organizations such as LAS and KGZS, they are educated and involved with new projects. The farmers who were a part of the survey estimate that there are not many prospects of progress for agriculture in Zasavje. They are aware of their shortcomings, but they are ready to educate themselves. With efficient local support and better organization of the farmers there could be many opportunities for agriculture in Trbovlje.
