Abstract
V delu me zanima predvsem percepcija pokrivanja muslimanskih žensk med muslimani in zahodnjaki.

Title:Veiling of Muslim women
Abstract:
There are articles in the media about veiled Muslim women walking European streets. For my paper I analyzed media coverage of veiling Muslim women and the attitude of Westerners towards them. The subject of veiling Muslim women is complex, since views on veiling are shared both in the Western world and among the Muslims themselves. Veiling women is not a new phenomenon and has already appeared through the history. Throughout history, women who were members of different religions and not merely Muslims were veiling themselves. Covering the body of Muslim women requires religion, also a husband, family and culture. The woman's body should be visible only to the husband and the nearest relatives, as the Koran demands. The purpose of veiling Muslim women is the separation of intimacy and the public, which is often intertwined in western societies and is no longer clearly separated. The purpose of the thesis will be to show how the veiling is written in Koran and Hadith and how it is actually used in everyday life. In my paper I am mainly interested in the perception of veiling Muslim women among Muslims and Westerners. Many Muslim women choose to cover themselves, as this is consistent with their Muslim identity. Many Westerners, however, understand the veiling of Muslim women as oppression and that it is not approved by them.
