Abstract

Title:sensation seeking among students of faculty of sport
Abstract:
In my degree I will present you scuba diving and a research of sensation seeking in this particular sport. There are several individuals who already occupied themselves with this subject before. A lot of researches were made and I used them in my degree. Hartman and Rawson are first among researchers that came to the conclusion that there are differences between athletes and not athletes in sensation seeking. In subsequent research, conducted by Rowland, Franken and Harrison (1986), differences were also observed within the group of athletes. More researches were also made among students. Kajtna (2012) found that students, who had trained larger number of different sports or had tested several sports disciplines, had higher expressed sensation seeking. The main, but not the only hypothesis of the degree is that there is no difference in sensation seeking between students who chose optional class Scuba diving and those who did not. I assume, that there is no difference between students who chose theoretical optional subject instead of Scuba diving course, or there are really small. The problem is that optional subject Scuba diving has only 20 free spaces and when they are full, you can not choose this subject anymore. The other problem is financial status of students and their parents. The second hypothesis in my degree is that there are no statistically significant differences between sexes in sensation seeking. I had checked both of hypotheses with the results I had obtained with Zuckerman sensation seeking scale, edition V (SSS-V). Then I had processed the results with T-test for two independent samples to check, if there are statistically significant differences in arithmetical mean of two samples.
