Poverty is one of the oldest problems which is still present in contemporary societies. Despite the progress in education, technology there are social groups in society that are on the edge of survival and are living in uncertainty from day to day. Slovenia is a welfare state, which should enable equal possibilities for access to social protection to all citizen, nevertheless there is still high number of people who reach out for help to humanitarian organizations, which are based on solidarity and justice. There are different vulnerable groups in society, which are at risk of poverty, one of the most frequent reasons for poverty is loss of employment. Poverty precisely and seeking for help at humanitarian organizations have an impact on individuals social image, as there are many of the recipient who are facing social exclusion and stigma, for this reason they decide for different stigma management strategies. Poverty does not only impact their image, but also other life areas, namely there appear health problems and last but not least it also deteriorates interpersonal relationships.
