In this work I describe a software environment for automation called Zenon from the company COPA-DATA. Supervisory control systems are often big, complex and non-trivial to construct. In this work I try to show the benefits of working with Zenon software such as quick development, wide array of functionality and simplicity. I will show how to work with Zenon and how to develop a ski resort control system where I try to determine how the software environment Zenon behaves on a real project. Project covers the majority of Zenon functionality and is thus a good indicator of its robustness and usability. I show that the software environment Zenon is especially suitable for monitoring and control projects where regulation of time non critical systems is also necessary.
