The Master's thesis deals with the problem of size of air gap in in-wheel motor induced mainly by dimensional and geometrical production tolerances. The size is upwards limited with electromagnetic efficiency of the motor and downwards with deformations and elongations due to thermomechanical loads and accelerations during driving.
Based on technical drawings, a tolerance analysis is carried out using worst-case method and statistical methods. Due to interference fits, tolerance analysis also takes into account deformations. The calculated values are compared with measured values, which are evaluated using methods of statistical process control.
It has been identified that the calculated and measured values match, but the manufacturing processes of components and sub-assemblies are not yet under satisfactory control.
