The company has been in the period of rearranging the production hall to improve the organizing system and making place for new assembly cells. The amount of products to be sold has increased and there are additional projects to be carried out. We can save some space by joining some manufacturing cells together.
In the thesis we basically compare two solutions. The first solution presented suggests joining two U-cells, the second one suggests upgrading each one of them separately. On the basis of analyzing the existing state and using tools of efficient production, we have prepared and optimized possible concepts and compared them one to another on the basis of economic analysis, achieved added value, number of necessary operators, getting additional projects, flexibility, the amount of space gained and others.
On the basis of these criteria we have reached the following conclusion. If we get some additional projects, it is better to join U-cells, otherwise it is better to upgrade each one of them separately.
