This master's thesis deals with the process of learning Slovene as a foreign language in case of Spanish native speakers. Based on the fact that first language affects foreign language learning and that typical elements of the individual's first language are present in the communication in foreign language as well, the study tries to show how Spanish as a native language affects the learning of Slovene as a foreign language. It focuses on the search of typical linguistic structures and issues that Spanish native speakers share in their communication in Slovene. At the same time, it tries to find out to what extent native speakers can adopt Slovene as one of their foreign languages in a certain period, as well as what aspects remain impossible to acquire due to the differences with their native language and why.
