Abstract
Obstoječa glavna cesta G1-6 Postojna–Jelšane je del celovitega omrežja TEN-T, vendar ne izpolnjuje standardov ceste takšnega pomena. V preteklosti so že bile izdelane študije povezave od avtoceste A1 Šentilj–Srmin do mejnega prehoda Jelšane, od koder že poteka avtocesta do Reke. Ker so sedanje prometne obremenitve in obremenitve v planskem obdobju na obravnavani glavni cesti premajhne, je gradnja avtoceste na tej relaciji neupravičena. Njene investicije prav tako ne opravičuje dejstvo, da se v času poletne sezone tako na glavni cesti kot tudi na regionalni cesti skozi Knežak pojavljajo zastoji. Ker je torej gradnja avtoceste neupravičena, je potrebna rekonstrukcija obstoječe glavne ceste, ki je prikazana v tej magistrski nalogi. Cesto smo opredelili kot konvencionalno strateško cesto, saj je del vseevropskega prometnega omrežja in je zanjo treba zagotoviti ustrezen standard. Konvencionalna strateška cesta je cesta visoke kakovosti, ki ima pomembno vlogo pri povezovanju urbanih in gospodarskih središč. V prvem delu naloge smo izdelali analizo obstoječe glavne ceste G1-6 ter preučili projekte v teku in se v nadaljevanju posvetil umeščanju trase v prostor. V fazi projektiranja so bili upoštevani naslednji pogoji: možnost vožnje z nespremenjeno hitrostjo 90 km/h, umik območjem poselitve z obvoznimi cestami in posledično ločitev daljinskega prometa od notranjega ter potek trase v čim večji meri po obstoječem koridorju. V magistrski nalogi so predstavljene možne variante poteka trase ter izbira optimalne variante, ki je prikazana v prilogah.

Title:Comparison of the variant and conceptual design for the reconstruction of main road Postojna–Jelšane : graduation thesis
Abstract:
Despite being a part of Trans-European Transport Network (TEN-T) the existing main road G1-6 Postojna–Jelšane does not comply with network’s requirements. Various studies have been carried out in the past examining a possible connection between A1 motorway Šentilj–Srmin and border crossing Jelšane from where the motorway to Rijeka (Croatia) starts. Current and future estimated traffic flow does not justify a construction of a new motorway on this route. Furthermore, construction of a new motorway is unjustified despite constant traffic jams on the main road and regional road through Knežak during the summer months. Consequently, a reconstruction of the existing main road G1-6 has been proposed in this master thesis. Being part of TEN-T network, main road G1-6 has to follow certain standards, hence the definition as conventional strategic road. Conventional strategic road is a high quality road that has an important role in connecting urban and economic centers. In the first part of this thesis the existing main road G1-6 and projects in progress were examined. The second part describes road planning procedure. Main preconditions to road planning in this thesis are: enabling constant speed 90 km/h, avoiding settlements with bypass roads and using as much of the existing corridor as possible. In this master thesis possible variants of the road are discussed. The choice of the optimal variant is presented in the appendix.
