Reservoirs of hydroelectric power stations on the lower course of the Sava River are primarily used for electricity generation and retention of high-water waves, however, due to the complete regulation of the river space, they offer much more ̶ they enable further development possibilities in the economic, agricultural and tourist sector.
The purpose of the master's thesis is the regulation of existing hydroelectric power station on the lower course of the Sava River for the needs of tourism and execution of leisure activities on the water and in the waterside area. Leisure activities in Slovenia are not yet sufficiently developed and established, so it is essential that on the basis of research and examples of good practices, within the framework of the project study documentation, we establish a mechanism through which we can potentially develop, regulate and fully manage the river space in the Posavje area.
On the basis of the analysis of the working hypothesis it was established that, in addition to the attractive space for performing sports and recreational activities with sufficient safety and adequate regulation of public infrastructure with urban equipment, the key factors for development of local tourism are, above all, the interests of the Posavje municipalities.
