The aim of the diploma thesis was the connection of photography and poetry. We have made artistic photographs and arranged them to chosen poetry. Before the start, we researched different poetry books and literature references and collected every necessary information that helped us through the entire process.
In the theorethical part, we exposed the most important information. We defined the basic camera settings and the rules of composition. We researched appropriate formats. We exposed some manipulations of digital photography and researched the field of artistic photography. We have collected informations about book design – from the selection of typography, layouts, formats and dimensions and parts, needed in every printed matter.
In the experimental part we have made photographs on the topic of chosen poetry. Even though the poetry and photography are different as a tehnique, we have focused on the fact, that the photography in this case is the extra value of poetry – its description in another tehnique. The goal was to make suitable photographs, postproduct them as a series and set them in a totality – a book, with poetry. For the postproduction of photographies we used Adobe Photoshop, for book design we used Adobe InDesign.
Our final result is the collection of photography and poetry.
