Vpliv joge na kakovost življenja odraslih astmatikov : pregled literature

Abstract
Uvod: Astma je kronična bolezen dihalnih poti, ki se v zadnjih letih pogosto pojavlja. Razlogi so najverjetneje v razmahu industrije in s tem povezane slabše kakovosti zraka, v pogostejši rabi umetnih materialov in stresu, s katerim se srečuje človek v vsakdanjem življenju. Simptomi astme, ki jih sprožijo mnogi dejavniki, lahko bolnike prizadenejo fizično, psihološko, čustveno in socialno. Z jogo se sprosti stres v telesu in uravnovesi avtonomni živčni sistem, ki vpliva tudi na dihanje in imunski sistem. Z jogijskimi dihalnimi tehnikami se doseže večjo predihanost pljuč in izboljša dihalni izkoristek. Namen: S pomočjo pregledane literature smo želeli ugotoviti spremembo kakovosti življenja pri odraslih z astmo po izvajanju jogijskih vaj. Metode dela: Pregledali smo strokovno in znanstveno literaturo v spletnih podatkovnih bazah PubMed, ScienceDirect in Web of Science in knjižne vire. Rezultati: Analizirali smo šest raziskav, v katerih so odrasli z astmo izvajali različne jogijske položaje ali meditacije in dihalne vaje (pranajame). V eni raziskavi so poleg joge izvajali tudi naturopatsko zdravljenje, v treh pa so poleg joge uvedli tudi dieto. Raziskave so trajale od 8 tednov do 36 mesecev. Dolgotrajne učinke joge so ugotavljali v dveh raziskavah; v prvi so astmatike ponovno testirali po dveh mesecih, v drugi pa 36 mesecev po zaključku raziskave. Ugotovili so, da joga zmanjšuje stres in poveča občutek samonadzora nad simptomi astme, kar astmatikom pomaga nadzirati bolezen. Z boljšim nadzorom nad boleznijo so bolniki bolj aktivni v vsakdanjem življenju na različnih področjih delovanja. Razprava in sklep: Pri astmatikih, udeleženih v raziskavah, se zmanjšata pogostnost in jakost simptomov astme, upade uporaba zdravil in izboljša se kakovost življenja. V raziskavah, v katerih so testiranje ponovili, so bili vplivi joge manjši. Iz tega sklepamo, da je za pozitivne učinke joge na astmo potrebno jogo izvajati redno večkrat tedensko, kar pa je zamudno in zahteva veliko motivacije s strani bolnika. Poraja pa se tudi vprašanje učinka placeba, ljudje namreč poznajo jogo po pozitivnih učinkih in bi lahko že v naprej pričakovali ugodne spremembe, ki pa mogoče ne bi bile pokazatelj dejanskih sprememb.

Title:The effect of yoga on quality of life of adult asthmatics : literature review
Abstract:
Introduction: Asthma is chronic airway disease which is very cmmon these days. This may be due to industrialization of the world and lower air quality, the use of unorganic materials and because of stressors that are present in everyday life. Yoga relieves stress and balance autunomic nervous system which effect breathing and immune system. With yogic breathing techniques we can achieve better and bigger lung capacities. Purpose: To determine the effect of yoga techniques on quality of life of adult asthmatics. Methods: Check up of published scientific and technical literature on internet with PubMed, ScienceDirect in Web of Science database and in book sources. Results: We analized 6 studies in which the intervention was one of the yogic technique and all of them included breathing techniques. In one study the asthmatics received also naturopathy and in three studies they received also a diet. Studies lasted from 8 weeks to 36 months. The results showed that yoga lower the level of stress and give better self control over the asthmatic symptoms and asthmatics can control their disease and be more active in their lifes. Discussion and conclusion: With yoga we can achieve lower number and intensity of atacks, lower drug usage and better quality of life. But the effects are not long lasting, so the asthmatics should do yoga on regulary basis and this take a lot of time and motivation. There may also be the effect of placebo, because people know yoga for its benefit effects.
