Abstract

The purpose of the diploma thesis is to determine the degree of employee engagement in a selected company. The aim of the empirical part of the diploma thesis is to conduct a survey through a selected UWES-17 questionnaire and to transmit its results to the management of the selected company. The theoretical part of the diploma thesis presents the concept of employee engagement, the key factors that influence the level of employee engagement in a company, the role of the leader in achieving employee engagement, as well as the positive effects of engaged staff within the company. For the empirical part of the diploma thesis we conducted a survey on the engagement of employees in a selected company with the UWES-17 questionnaire. According to a sample of 110 employees, the results of the survey show that on average the employees in the selected company X are engaged at their work – their total average value is 3.20. The study also shows that the engagement levels decline as the length of service increases.
