This article discusses the role of books in the contemporary digital world and the changes in reading and teaching resulting from technological development. The technology used for reading is changing the way we read, which, in turn, affects the way we read, write, and teach. Changes to the visual appearance of textbooks as the basic knowledge carriers, rapid technological development, and the use of artificial intelligence raise the following (almost rhetorical) question: To what extent will future education continue to rely on books, and will technological development, which leads us from books to the screen, also bring us back to books?
