Handball is physically demanding sport that requires a combination of speed, power, endurance and also tehnical tactical preparedness. It is classified into a group of so-called contact sports, where a constant physical contact with an opponent is constantly ongoing during the game. Handball game can be combined with very diverse loads as well as unexpected situations, which is why the exposure of players to various injuries is high. Flexibility training is an important part of handball training. With various static and dynamic exercises, we can influence on better flexibility of the shoulder girdle and consequently reduce injuries caused by the lack of flexibility. In our thesis we reviewed the existing literature in which authors analyse handball shot, we described flexibility, factors that influence flexibility and methods for development of flexibility. In the second part, we introduced and described mechanisms for injuries and described four examples of modified mechanics. In this respect, we presented exercises with which we influence the flexibility of the shoulder girdle. Based on the literature reviewed, we found that we should pay more attention to the flexibility of the shoulder girdle and include it in handball training.
