The Master's thesis studies the comparison of the word order in Slovene and German language. The purpose and the aim of the master's thesis is the syntactic analysis of the fairy tale Sovica Oka by Svetlana Makarovič and its German translation Oka, die Eule. The work focuses on the relation between the subject and the predicate, the location of adverbial particles, marked word order and the words that are in comparison to Slovenian text added or subtracted in German translation. The analysis was made with the help of a topological model of the German sentence frame, which determines the position of verbal forms in German and also of other constitutes. Such frames do not exist in Slovene language. The word order is determined by other rules of the fixed and free word order. The master’s thesis also includes a historical overview of word order rules in Slovene from the selected language handbooks.
