Primerjava dveh italijanskih prevodov prvega dela trilogije Gospodar prstanov J.R.R. Tolkien

Magistrsko delo analizira prva tri poglavja dveh italijanskih prevodov Tolkienovega romana Gospodar prstanov, prevajalke Vittorie Alliate di Villafranca (1978) in drugega, novejšega, prevajalca Ottavia Fatice (2019). Odlomki so izbrani glede na slovnične, leksikalne ali specifične značilnosti vsebine izvirnika in prevodov. V nalogi so poudarjene glavne razlike med obema prevodoma iz izvirne angleščine v italijanščino s poudarkom na dveh različnih prevajalskih strategijah, vključno s potujevanjem in podomačevanjem.

Izvleček

In this master's thesis, I analyzed the first three chapters of the two Italian translations of Tolkien's fantasy novel, The Lord of the Rings, one by Vittoria Alliata di Villafranca (1978) and the other more recent one by Ottavio Fatica (2019). The passages were chosen on the basis of translation-relevant grammatical, lexical, or content-related features. With the thesis, I wanted to show the main differences between the two translations from the original English into Italian with an emphasis on two different translation strategies, i.e. foreignizing and assimilating translation. Both translations from the original tend towards one strategy or the other, but as the analysis shows, never completely.
