The article deals with early Serbian translations of Prešeren’s poems completed between 1837 and 1936. The first translations of Prešeren’s poems into Serbian were published in the newspapers: Новый сербский летопис (Pest, 1837); Srpska zora (Vienna, 1879); Javor (Novi Sad, 1879); Kolo (Belgrade, 1889) and Srpski književni glasnik (Belgrade, 1905). Serbian translations of Prešeren’s poems were published in book form by Nikola Marjanović (1900), Vladimir Stanimirović (1909) and Trifun Đukić (1929, 1930, 1931, 1936), all of whom were poets. Among the first translators was Jovan Jovanović Zmaj (1833-1904), one of the most prolific poets of Serbian romanticism.
