This Master Thesis deals with literary and propositional analysis of Shakespeare’s tragedy Romeo and Juliet and its easily readable version. Easy reading – the way of communication for people with reading and writing difficulties – frames communication as a process, for which we can say it presents exchanging information between people. The basic part of the theoretical foundation in the thesis shows communication as the essential and indispensable element in the process of communication. Propositional analysis of the parallel segments is enabling an insight into the language part of both works, transfer of individual information between them, and omission of the essential meanings on level of the language which carries the meaning. The second part of the thesis focuses on the origin, tematology, adaptations of Romeo and Juliet, and literary analysis of the original and easily readable adaptation.
