The state administration is the state apparatus through which the state operates. Complex problems, globalization as well as citizens’ demanding requirements and expectations, force the state administration to change its operations as well as into innovation. Innovation maturity shows the effectiveness of innovative efforts within an individual organization. Measuring innovation maturity allows us to monitor the progress of an organization, identify the potential of an organization and design future innovation strategies. The purpose of the bachelor’s thesis is to examine the innovation maturity in selected state bodies and the effect of the Inovativen.si project on innovation maturity. Using the method of secondary analysis and the interview method, we successfully examined and compared the results of measuring innovation maturity in the period 2018-2020 for selected state bodies, examined and assessed the effects of the Inovativen.si project on innovation maturity in state administration bodies and furthermore prepared propositions with which the bodies will be able to improve their innovation maturity. We found that the level of innovation maturity, at selected state bodies, does not improve in all segments over the years, with the exception of the Ministry of Public Administration, where, compared to 2019, we noticed an increase in all three segments (employees, management and process). We also found that, compared to 2019, only two out of five bodies recorded the largest increase in management segment. We additionally learned that the Inovativen.si project has direct effects on the level of innovation maturity in the Slovenian state administration bodies, which the bodies can use in the future, by participating in trainings and activities carried out by the project. From the obtained results we can conclude that the bodies still have a lot of room for progress in the field of innovation and that with further persistent and systematic approach of the Inovativen.si project, the state administration can improve the innovation maturity in its bodies and thus approach other European countries in the field of innovation. In the future, it would make sense to prepare a more detailed secondary analysis of the measurement report data for all participating bodies and to investigate why there were major discrepancies in the average estimates for some of them.
