The diploma thesis presents the creation of the integrated graphic identity of the Flat Iron Building or the ‘Peglezen’, designed by Jože Plečnik. In itself, the building is an architecturally significant cultural monument of national importance, which does not have a proper graphic identity, neither as a whole nor in terms of its component parts. The design enables the depiction of its architectural identity and the new graphic identity awards it both more recognizability and overall visibility, especially since most passers-by are unaware of the building’s rich symbolism. With the help of usage of the products with a graphical application, the building is brought to life and closer to the people.
The thesis presents an analysis of the architectural and symbolic langu- ages of the building as well as the activities undertaken within. The goal of the thesis is the expression of the building’s potentials with the design of elements that form a unified and recognizable graphic identity.
