In the final seminar paper, we examined the structure and development of supplementary activities on farms in the Municipality of Kidričevo. By interviewing the operators of supplementary activities on farms (N = 24), we obtained necessary data on primary agricultural and supplementary activities and owners of agricultural holdings (demographics, reasons for registration, career anchors). The importance of agriculture in the municipality is not negligible, since almost two-thirds of the total area is agricultural land, while farms on average cultivate more significant areas of the utilized agricultural area than elsewhere in Slovenia and are more market-oriented. Supplementary activities on farms are a form of rural on-farm diversification, and their stakeholders are local actors in this process. The main (most frequently registered) group of supplementary activities is services with agricultural and forestry machinery. There is a noticeable absence of farm tourism and social care activities. The owners of agricultural holdings base their decisions on the influence of different external and internal factors. The main reason for registering supplementary activities on farms is to create a financial surplus, thus ensuring stability and predictability at work, but not so much to have a source of funds for further investments in the supplementary activity – the later are most often acquired by carrying out the primary agricultural activity. Based on the structure of supplementary activities on farms, we also provided recommendations for their future development.
