The following diploma thesis describes the synthesis of four different amides of pyruvic acid. The reactions were carried out via corresponding acid chloride (prepared from pyruvic acid with the addition of oxalyl chloride) that was in the next step reacted with a selection of amines (diethylamine, cyclohexylamine, aniline, 4-methoxyaniline) yielding variously substituted amides. The final products were characterised using IR spectroscopy, 1H NMR spectroscopy, HRMS and with melting points measurement.
