In the area of Ljubljanski vrh in the Ljubljana forest management region we made a timber felling and skidding project, which was improved with the use of Lidar data. We calculated the productivity and the production costs, estimated the necessary time for each working field and estimated the incomes from the wood selling. After this, we used the program package ArcMap to get the terrain profiles of the skid trails, which were used to calculate the slopes on the skid trail, the terrain profiles of the cable cranes, which were used to predict the possibility of a middle support tree and real length of the crane, and finally we used ArcMap program package to calculate the mean terrain roughness. The mean roughness can help the forester assigning the bunching category. At the end we concluded that the use of Lidar in combination with the planning of forest harvest operation has to be developed, because it can minimize the field work, costs and time for the forest harvest operation planning.
