Diploma thesis discusses humans in connection to the textile and art. A word human has a rather wide concept so I have chosen only three aspects of a human life: the conception, human as body, soul and spirit, and human as a social being.
The most important part of a human are his hands. They are his tool for survival, his means of communication. When dealing with the hands of an artist, the hands betoken the connection between the real and imaginary worlds. Especially when designing textiles, the imaginary world gets closer to the real one. In the key moments of a humans life, such as birth, death, courtship, marriage, religious ceremonies, etc., textile carries a symbolic meaning, be it in a form of a clothing or decorative objects.
Human is often a subject of artistic endeavours. Dissertation makes reference to different authors who explore the structure of a human body and authors who in their works look into the textile in relation to other materials.
Pondering over artistic endeavours reminds us of a related concept – the Creation. It is more commonly connected to God than to an artist, but even an artist per se is the creator of his own art, that is why we can justifiably acknowledge them as "the representatives of the Creator".
My claims/hypothesis from the theoretical part led to ideas and sketches led to experiments. In the practical part a collection of sculptures and installations with mixed techniques was made. With that, the focus is on the usage of different kinds of textile in connection to clay.
Textile design is in close relation to the modern-day artistic practices. Installations have prompted actions and consequently photography and film in studios, as well as in nature. A social discourse with the public has opened with people being invited to enter the artistic acts by means of a performance or so-called "open studio".
