The dissertation presents the development of beekeeping terminology from the 18th to the middle of the 19th century. The central part of the research is the presentation of the methodology for researching older terminology, the analysis of term-formation modes, and designing a model for the terminographic presentation of older beekeeping terminology. In terms of methodological approach, the conceptual approach and the use of certain methodological procedures of traditional terminology proves to be appropriate for the research of older terminology, but has to be adjusted in certain aspects because of the research object being distant in time. Corpus methods and tools are also useful in statistical evaluation of phenomena. In relation to term-formation modes, the hypothesis that most of the terminology is of Slovenian origin and that terminology borrowed from foreign languages represents only a minor part has been confirmed. As far as Slovenian term-formation modes are concerned, syntactic formation modes are predominant, followed by semantic and word-formation methods. With regard to terminographic presentation, we consider the two-part design of the dictionary as the most suitable; a design which is based on the conceptual approach and foregrounds onomasiological approach to terminology, which is partly complemented by semasiological approach, due to the special features of the older terminology.
