The surroundings of business premises leave an impression of the company on passers-by. It is therefore very important for a company to care for and cultivate them. Tidy surroundings attract the buyer’s interest in the company itself and its products. We landscaped the surroundings of the family company, VDM Logar, which is engaged in metallurgy and maintenance. Our aim was to choose appropriate plants to make the maintenance of the landscaped areas as easy as possible. Because of soil replacement, we expected problems in acquiring new soil, in keeping existing plant species and installations in the area. Before the work started, the appearance was inappropriate and so some construction work was necessary. We built a wall in which we installed a panel fence and new door; we set kerbstones and paved an area for some benches. After finishing all the construction work, we replaced the upper layer of soil to a depth of 20 to 40 centimetres (in which trees were to be planted), higher than before. We replaced the soil with soil from our own field. Based on our planting plan, we planted various perennials (Lavandula angustifolia, Cortaderia selloana, Festuca scoparia, Festuca glauca and Pennisetum alopecuroides) and woody plants (Cotinus coggygria, Acer palmatum, Ligustrum delavayanum, Cornus kousa, Picea glauca, Juniperus horizontalis, Pinus mugo pumilio and Prunus serrulata) and prepared areas for turf. Part of the grass was sown and part was laid. Finally, we lit the construction with some solar lights. In order for the whole ambient to serve its purpose, it is also necessary to maintain it in due time and professionally. Total landscaping cost was 8,311.50 €.
