Abstract

Title:
The professional development of preschool teachers in kindergarten
Abstract:
The professional development of preschool teachers in education is a lifelong process which begins with the initial training of professionals and ends up with their retirement. My paper is separated in two parts. In the first, theoretical part, I focused on the education of preschool teachers and their professional path at the end of education. Main focus alluded to the professional growth of the preschool teacher and possibility to strengthen proficiency. The empirical part of this thesis is based on the questionnaire. Pedagogical workers were asked about kindergarten, forms of further education that strengthen their professional competence, in which fields would they like to deepen the knowledge and how they experience the possibility of promotion. The results of the study showed that most of the professional staff in the kindergartens find the participation in their further education very important for their professional development. They evaluated pedagogical and psychological knowledge as the most important for their professional competence. Pedagogical workers in the kindergarten are the most keen on training seminars in the institution they are employed. Assistant to preschool teacher are discontented with the promotion in higher salary grades regardless working in urban or rural kindergarten.
