My thesis with the title Ironija v romanih V. Zupana, F. Cèlina in H. Millerja (Irony, (homo) erotica and autobiographic elements in the novels of V. Zupan, F. Celine and H. Miller) presents three great authors and their novels. The parallels between their works are exposed, in the centre of attention is irony, which is the main stylist in all three novels and connects the text cohesively and coherently, and merges with other motifs, eroticism and autobiography being the main ones among others. Irony also intertwines with symbolism that is strongly emphasised, and is most evident in Zupan's work, where there is a very prominent colour symbolism. It is present already before the beginning of the reading in all three addresses where I tried to establish whether they were written on purpose or by coincidence. The essence of the thesis is the comparison of two foreign novels (The Topic of Cancer and Journey to the End of the Night) which reach the very top of the literature over the world due to their high quality with the Slovene novel Travel to the End of the Spring (Potovanje na konec pomladi). Today it is still not emphasized sufficiently enough that the Slovene novel with its style and quality belongs to the very top of European and world literature. By the quality and the stylistic skills, especially by ironisation, it even exceeds the other two European novels that were used as a comparison in my thesis.
