The subject of the master's thesis is an agricultural structure made of spruce timber of the strength class C24. The structure has a span of 15 meters and is located in Ljubljana. It is designed to the effect of constant and variable load in accordance with Eurocode standards. The impact of a fire situation is taken into account and the resistance of the structure is verified. Results show that the fire resistance of the structure is due to the low fire resistance of one timber element equal to R15. By increasing the size of this element, we can relatively easy achieve higher fire resistance of the structure, i.e. R30.
The geometry of the structure with the span of 15 meters is transformed in such a way that it allows to bridge the span of 20 meters using solid timber elements made of strength class C24. The structure of the span of 20 meters is designed to the influence of constant and variable load in accordance with the Eurocode standards. The same procedure is repeated for structure with span of 25 meters. Analysis showed that structures with the prescribed geometry and span of 25 meters, can not be assembled only by using elements from solid spruce timber elements of the strength class C24. In order to bridge the span of 25 meters, critical elements must be replaced with elements of higher-strength timber or glulam beams or the geometry of the structure should be additionally modified.
